Why Aren’t You In Business For Yourself

Are you looking for reasons why you should own your own business? There are many. I do not condone people leaving their current job in an effort to launch some new enterprise that they “hope” will make it. In my opinion that is crazy. You had better be damn well prepared for some major setbacks and have the persistence and the finances required to work around them. It is easy to misjudge yourself about things like that. You may think you have more determination than you really do. Your income and expense projections will be way off. I guarantee it for first time business launches.

What I do condone is people starting a little home based business as a second source of income. With a small home based business, it is alright if you don’t make any real money for a year or two. If you don’t need that money to live on then it’s no big deal. You could run in the red for years if need be, especially if it is a business that you truly enjoy.

When you are working at something that you really enjoy it doesn’t feel like work. It is too enjoyable to be called work. At these times is when you can really harness your brainpower and become ultra-creative. You can think outside the box and come up with new ways of doing things that nobody thought of.

It is the perfect opportunity to ease yourself into a scenario where you could take the next step of running your own business full time. You will get to learn how business really works and you’ll experience some of the pitfalls firsthand. Those pitfalls will be on a much smaller scale though than if you were trying to make a living doing this business. Small ones are easy to overcome. You get a first class lesson in entrepreneurship at a really cheap price.

Do You Need The Money That Business Ownership Could Provide You With?

As modern economies and the modern workplace evolve, it is becoming increasingly difficult to compete in the world. The world really is flat when it comes to trade, commerce and labor. Transcontinental and international logistics make it possible to conduct business from anywhere. This has put downward pressure on wages, especially in rich countries like the United States. What are your real prospects for pay raises over the next five years?

A second job running your own business, gives you the opportunity to make some extra money assuming your little enterprise is a success. Maybe you can come up with a business model that the whole family can partake in. Maybe you can team up with a good friend or relative on this project. I don’t know a middle class family in America that couldn’t use a little extra income.

Business Ownership has rewards other than financial ones

If you can take your time and slowly build a little cash machine in your spare time, you would be surprised at how energizing it is. You will gain a lot of self esteem from the process. You will get an education about how business owners think. You will learn to recognize true deals from some marketing gimmick that is trying to pull the wool over your eyes.

You may change your views on politics once you realize how difficult it must be to build a successful company from scratch. You will realize how much government really does influence your ability to succeed in business.

Entrepreneurship is a natural evolution of the modern economy

Everything is becoming so specialized these days. There is a television station for every genre. There are websites catering to practically every single niche. People aren’t just specialists anymore. They are super specialists. A dentist isn’t just a dentist anymore. There are hygienists, dental surgeons, dental clinics, cosmetic dentists and even dentists who focus their business model around sedation dentistry.

You can see that kind of narrowing and specialization occurring in every industry. If you can market your skills properly, there is probably something that you do exceptionally well compared to other people in your field. Maybe you are an auto mechanic who could specialize in restoring old Plymouths. Maybe you are one of five people in the United States who knows how to repair a certain piece of machinery. Maybe you love and have an exceptional ability to dig viruses out of computers. Maybe you have wanted to write a book but never found the motivation to do it. Have you ever thought of launching your own website? They are really cheap to run.

There is a possibility for everyone out there. Maybe you just need to tell your story to the world about how you overcame some major life hurdle. How about teaching your skill or talent to someone else for a profit? Find something that you enjoy doing or talking about and build yourself a small micro business around it. Maybe you’ll hit it big and maybe not. You’ll never know unless you try. Do something that you really enjoy and I bet you’ll find some way to make it profitable. When you are doing what you love, the money will come naturally. Just be on the lookout for it.
