If you suffer from greasy, oily skin you are always looking for something that will give you a clean matte look after cleansing. Dermalogica Dermal Clay Cleanser could be that product those with oily or combination skin have been looking for all along. You need a cleanser that is going to the cut the grease without over drying. If your skin becomes overly dry from strong astringents, your skin will just produce more and more oil to over compensate. Women with greasy skin often tend to over cleanse and end up with only greasier skin, and then they continue to cleanse more and more, only further fueling the grease factory. The kaolin and green clay in Dermalogica Dermal Clay Cleanser is a formula that is made to absorb grease, rather than just scrub it off. It has natural deep cleansing properties. The clay works deep into the pores to remove dirt and impurities. There are added herbal extracts in the clay that set it apart from using just clay alone. These added ingredients help to give you a really refined complexion and minimized pores. At least these are all the things Dermalogica claims this product can do for your skin.
Dermalogica Dermal Clay Cleanser Ingredients
Arnica Montana Flower Extract- This anti-bacterial extract treats acne by stopping the bacteria that causes it from proliferating.
Cucumber Fruit Extract– Works as a skin emollient that softens the skin and reduces redness. Cucumber is a notorious spa staple, it also contains astringent properties.
Mallow Extract-Mallow soothes, heals, and softens the skin. Mallow helps you lock in existing moisture and create an even skin tone.
Sodium Magnesium Silicate-This is a special clay that is manufactured to add as a binding agent in different cosmetic products that are all-natural.
Menthol- Menthol always sounds synthetic, but it is actually an organic compound that is pressed from mint oils. It helps give you that refreshed feeling after cleansing we all crave in the mornings. It also reduces red inflammation of the skin or puffiness.
Best Things About Dermalogica Dermal Clay Cleanser
The best things about Dermalogica’s Dermal Clay Cleanser is its ability to get rid of the oil slick without over drying skin. It gives a really deep clean and has a superbly natural ingredient list. It helps with acne, bacteria, inflammation, and de-greases. There are no artificial colorings or fragrances that irritate sensitive skin in this formula. Your skin will never over produce oil again, and it can maybe help you discover you don’t have oily skin you were just over cleansing with harsh astringents and exfoliators.
Worst Things About Dermalogica Dermal Clay Cleanser
The one bad thing about this product in my book is the filler clay. While it is synthetic it isn’t dangerous or toxic in any way or unnatural. I rather buy a product that uses the Kaolin and green clay throughout the formula and doesn’t cheap out on me. Especially because Dermalogica is a notoriously pricey brand when compared to drug stores. It is more mid-range when compared with luxury brands like Clarins. Some users reported that this clay made them breakout even more, some people say this is the skin purging it’s impurities. I don’t know if I ever bought into that noise. If something is causing me to breakout I just discontinue use and realize it didn’t work for my skin type. This is not a good product for dry, sensitive skin it is over drying and the menthol can be a bit itchy for those with contact allergies in the mint family.
Speaking of negative things….

Does Dermalogica Dermal Clay Cleanser Work?
Dermalogica has a good name in skin care, they are one of those long-time pharmaceutical grade leaders in the industry. I’ve used a lot of their products before and been pretty satisfied. The Dermal Clay Cleanser has a great ingredient list and a lot of users felt it successfully absorbed all the grime from their skin and left them feeling clean and refreshed from the menthol and cucumber. If you want to create a poor woman’s version of this product just buy the clay outright from Amazon or something. It won’t necessarily be the same, but you will benefit from those ingredients absorbing oil. If you want to refine your entire complexion though, you will need to pony up and buy the product.
